The Vallejo Naval and Historical Museum will showcase nine of Vallejo’s most beautiful, diverse gardens at its 20th annual Vallejo Garden Tour next weekend.
On Sunday, May 21, participants will pick up the tour guide at the Vallejo Naval and Historical Museum. Tourists can see each garden from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. “Master gardeners” will be present to speak on their herbs, flowers, and trees. The garden owners may even extend an olive branch and give planting advice.
Vallejo Naval and Historical Museum Executive Director Trevor Allen once opened his garden to tourists in 2018. Allen is now intrigued to see the turnout for this year.
“There are some amazing gardens out there,” said Allen. “I love the fact that people come out and we’re expecting a nice sunny day. When people come out, I think they get a real sense of enjoyment. It’s rare to have an event where we can come and spend time going from garden to garden.”
Allen said there is always something new to learn at the tours.
“I have yet to meet someone who’s been in the garden and they didn’t find something that they loved, something that they were really into with nine different gardens this year,” Allen said. “They’re very diverse.”
The Vallejo Garden Tour benefits the museum’s operating expenses. Each ticket is $40 at the museum gift shop or online at: www.vallejomuseum.org.
