A local gardening club is looking for volunteers to help pull out invasive weeds at the Beaumont Botanical Gardens, and to enjoy a glass of wine right after.
The Mary Howell Garden Club, which was formed in 1954, will have its third annual “Wine and Weed” fundraiser from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Beaumont Botanical Gardens, located at 6088 Babe Zaharias Dr., according to a news release.

Participants are asked to bring gardening gloves and weed spade, closed-toe shoes or boots and clothing they’re fine with getting dirty, the release said. The weed-pulling will take place from 5 to 6:30 p.m., and the wine social hour will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
