Changing the landscape with landscaping | Ozaukee Co. Business News

March 7, 2023 by Staff Reporter

MEQUON — Spectrum Investment Advisors won two awards — including a national recognition — for outstanding landscape management at its headquarters at 6329 W. Mequon Road, Mequon.

The National Association of Landscape Professionals recognized Spectrum with the 2022 Bronze Award in the Commercial Landscape Management Category, while the Wisconsin Landscape Association presented the company with the 2022 Silver Award.

According to Spectrum’s landscape architectural firm, David J. Frank Landscape Contracting, Inc., color is so important to Spectrum that it is referenced in the company name. In fact, Spectrum has patented a color system it uses to identify key financial trends to help guide clients in making informed choices.

David J. Frank Landscape noted that Spectrum built its headquarters in a blighted area and used color in its landscape management to stimulate $140 million of development within 800 feet of its office.

“Now that the area is a popular destination and 22,000 cars pass by the company daily, the emphasis is on keeping the landscaping ‘top shelf and spotless,’” David J. Frank noted. “The client also wants the landscaping to look lively and inviting in all four seasons.”

Spectrum Investment turned to David J. Frank for a “wow” factor, the landscaping firm wrote.

In the spring, snow crabapples are the star of the show. In the summer, Double Knock Out cherry red roses and Happy Returns Daylily are brilliant and prominent, the landscaper said.

Red oaks and autumn blaze are used in the fall, and in winter, the evergreen shrubs, including numerous boxwoods and the red twig dogwoods, provide color, even when it’s cold.
