Community Garden names Gardener of the Month | News

January 16, 2023 by Staff Reporter

The Fifth Street Community Garden recently named Brittany Baugh as its gardener of the month for January.

Baugh is a Morgan County native who graduated from Morgan County High School in 2006. Five years ago she married her high school sweetheart and they are proud guardians of seven little kittens.

Baugh heard about Fifth Street Community Garden from both her mother and her childhood friend. In fact, her garden bed is right next to her mother’s and they often shared the watering duties at the garden. Baugh’s grandmother and her mother had gardens when she was a child, and she started her first garden in the Spring of 2022 at her home.

When asked what she especially liked about having a fall bed at Fifth Street Community Garden, Baugh replied, “ I loved the garden space and the people in the community. I enjoyed watching everyone’s process of growth, the different techniques used, and each beautiful harvest that was yielded.”
