Artist Olafur Eliasson and architect Sebastian Behmann’s design firm known as Studio Other Spaces design the Vertical Panorama Pavilion, which is a conical structure. It is made up of colored glass panels specifically for a winery located in California. The Berlin-baed studio creates this for the Donum Estate winery in Sonoma Valley.
The structure is made from panels that are 24 different colors and vary in transparency. The studio explains that the project is “Inspired by the history of circular calendars, the conical canopy is centered on a northern-oriented oculus and glazed with 832 colored laminated glass panels depicting yearly averages of the four meteorological parameters at the estate – solar radiance, wind intensity, temperature, and humidity.”
