Impaired driving: Cedar Road
A vehicle crashed into the front patio of Piada Italian Street Food around 3:30 a.m. Sept. 8 and become stuck on a concrete flower planter after dislodging a small fence.
Responding officers found the driver passed out in the back seat of the vehicle and covered in vomit.
It was believed the man, who was very incoherent, tried to push the vehicle off the planter but went to sleep in the back of the vehicle after he was unsuccessful.
The Nevada man, 21, was subsequently taken to the hospital and arrested for OVI.
Criminal trespass: Victory Drive
A man, 71, was charged with criminal trespassing Sept. 7 after he refused to move to a free speech area at the city’s community center.
He was there with political signs but was in a non-designated free speech area and refused to move with the signs to the proper area where they would have been allowed.
Property damage: South Green Road
The owner of Growing Youth Development Daycare reported Sept. 12 that a window was broken out overnight on a school transit bus at the property.
The passenger door had a rock thrown through the glass and it was the second occurrence that week.
No suspects were identified.
Property damage: Colony Road
A resident reported a garage window broken out at her home Sept. 11.
She believed it had been broken out a few days earlier by an unknown person.
Welfare fraud: Warrensville Center Road
A resident said Sept. 10 that $264 worth of funds on her EBT card had been fraudulently used at a store in Illinois.
A report was required at the request of child and family services.
Stolen vehicle: Tamalga Drive
A woman reported at 2:30 a.m. Sept. 10 that her son’s vehicle had been stolen from her driveway.
The incident is under investigation.
Theft: Genesee Road
A woman reported Sept. 9 that several expensive purses and computer items were missing from her downstairs unit of her duplex home.
She said that maintenance workers had been inside the previous day to fix a water leak from the upstairs unit, and she found the front door had been left unlocked.
Police are investigating.
Domestic violence: Greenwold Road
A man said Sept. 9 that his neighbor came to his house stating that her husband hit her in the head with a rolling pin.
The husband was not at the home when officers arrived, but the incident is under investigation with possible felony charges pending.
Lost property: Langerdale Boulevard
A home healthcare nurse said Aug. 9 that some of her patient’s morphine was missing from a kit.
She said it had been delivered the previous day with the correct amount but most of it then went missing.
The incident was documented.
Forgery: South Green Road
The city’s finance director reported Sept. 8 that a check that had been previously paid to a Cleveland business to pay an invoice had been altered and fraudulently cashed.
The altered check was found to have been made out to a different payee but for the original amount of $14,540.
The incident is under investigation.
Impaired driving: Cedar Road
A Planet Fitness employee reported at 12:36 a.m. Sept. 8 that a vehicle drove onto the flower beds in front of the business.
The driver was found to be visiting from France and under the influence of suspected drugs.
The man, 40, was taken to the hospital and cited for OVI.
Theft: Warrensville Center Road
Loss prevention at Walmart reported Sept. 7 that a man with a knife left the store with stolen merchandise and entered an SUV.
Responding stopped the suspect’s vehicle on Holmden Road but did not locate a knife.
The man, 68, was cited for theft and taken to the hospital after complaining of trouble standing.
