The outdoor dining areas will be centrally located along Colorado Boulevard between Madison and Oak Knoll avenues in Playhouse Village.
Village Al Fresco Pavilions convert existing curbside parking stalls into outdoor seating and community gathering spots. The pavilions’ design is tailored to the unique characteristics of Playhouse Village, creating a vibrant public realm. Playhouse Village Association worked with Moule & Polyzoides Architects and VX Design Solutions to design and construct these aesthetic modular dining areas to meet the vision of urban design standards and streetscape designs for Playhouse Village.
“We are excited to transition the on-street dining program begun during the pandemic into a permanent set of improvements,” says Brian Wallace, President and CEO of Playhouse Village Association. “The pavilions’ locations in the heart of Playhouse Village will beautify this portion of Colorado Boulevard, support our business community, and bring the community together in a unique, welcoming environment to take advantage of our great Southern California weather.”
Family-owned Anaya’s Restaurant and the newly opened Tepito Coffee will extend private service to their customers in front of their businesses: The third set of Village Al Fresco Pavilions will serve as a communal dining space where visitors can enjoy eating takeout from several adjacent restaurants and cafes or simply pause for a chat with friends.
The Village Al Fresco Pavilions project by Playhouse Village Association is made possible with the support of key partners Playhouse Village Foundation, Anaya’s Restaurant, Tepito Coffee, LA Metro and Active SGV, and the City of Pasadena. They welcome everyone to come out and see the transformation.
