Edmund J. Grezlikowski, loved fishing, gardening

March 13, 2023 by Staff Reporter

Edmund “Ed” J. Grezlikowski, 85, of Millsboro, formerly of Wilmington, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at his home.

Ed was born March 3, 1938, in Wilmington, son of the late John Grezlikowski and the late Rose (Rucinski) Grezlikowski. He graduated from Salesianum High School and completed his bachelor’s degree at the University of Delaware.

Ed was employed for 30 years of service as a chemist for Allied Chemical, which eventually became General Chemical in Marcus Hook, Pa. He moved to Long Neck in 1992, a place that he always loved.

Ed raised beagles in the 1950s and 1960s and was an avid and knowledgeable fisherman of the Indian River and Rehoboth Bay since the 1950s. He crafted fishing lures with bucktail lures being his specialty. He was also an accomplished vegetable gardener and was famous for his tomatoes, peppers and lima beans.

Ed was known for his forthright manner and his no-nonsense approach to life. He was outspoken and you never had a doubt about what his opinion was on every subject matter. He always had a friendly demeanor and was well-liked by those who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Grezlikowski. Ed is survived by his loving wife of 45 ½ years, Margaret “Marnie” (Jugler) Grezlikowski; a son, Nicholas “Nick” Grez and his wife Stacey; and daughter, Margaret “Marnie” Pepper and her husband Kirt; his granddaughter, Keelie Grez; and sister-in-law, Ann Grezlikowski.

A celebration of Ed’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 18, at the Long Neck Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 32013 Long Neck Road, Millsboro, where friends and family may call after 10 a.m. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Ed’s name to the Ocean City Reef Foundation, ocreefs.org.
