Flexform Is Taking Outdoor Furniture to New Heights

January 8, 2023 by Staff Reporter

Who said luxury can only be enjoyed indoors? With its signature timeless elegance and materials designed to last, Flexform’s patio range brings the company’s refined home furnishings into the outdoors. The made-in-Italy collection, developed in collaboration with architect Antonio Citterio, is informed by the same sophisticated style traits and classic details found in the brand’s indoor furniture. The main difference is seen in the materials used to craft its signature designs into pieces suitable for use alfresco.

The collection incorporates stainless steel and iroko wood, both known for their sturdiness and resistance to changes in temperature and humidity. Meanwhile, stones such as Beola Argentata, Pietra del Cardoso, lava stone, and porphyry—quarried in Italy and chosen for their resistance to wear and atmospheric agents—add splendour and durability to the surfaces of dining and coffee tables. This careful attention to materials makes each piece a worthy investment for a well-balanced, beautiful, and functional sanctuary.

Taking cues from its own storied catalogue, Flexform has adapted some of its most iconic indoor furniture designs for this new collection. For example, Citterio’s Peter Armchair—originally designed in 2004 with a woven saddle-hide backrest and seat—has been recrafted with polypropylene fibre and a stainless-steel structure to endure the elements. The timeless Moka Chair, first designed in 1939 by masters of Italian architectural rationalism Mario Asnago and Claudio Vender, has also been reconceived in weather-resistant materials to ensure its prolonged functionality.

The way Flexform sees it, living rooms, terraces, patios, balconies, and porches are akin to ecosystems where sofas, armchairs, tables, ottomans, and other accessories create meaningful dialogue.

As summer quickly approaches and gatherings move outdoors, Flexform’s elegant patio furniture provides a welcoming luxury that fosters joyful conversations and lasting memories.
