Zara shared her hack in a TikTok video online.
Instead of buying fertiliser from the shop the gardening fan says there is something already in your home that you can use.
She said: “Tomatoes love potassium and what we usually throw in the trash can help them grow.”
The gardening fan uses banana peel to fertilise her tomatoes.
Yes, after you’ve eaten a banana, save the peel and follow these simple steps so you can feed your tomato plant too.
Zara first soaks her banana peel in water.
She said: “Soak banana peels for two to three days.”
The potassium and other minerals from the banana will soak into the water over these couple of days.
Next the gardening fan adds more water to the mixture.
“After three days, dilute the banana with five times more water.”

If you wish you can remove the peels now and feed your tomato plants with just the water.
Or you wish you can chop up the peel and leave them around your tomatoes to fertilise.
Zara says: “Remove or chop them and water your tomatoes.”
Either way your tomato plant will be very grateful for the extra potassium boost.
Zara’s tomato growing hack gained over 100,000 views.
Many viewers were impressed by the hack but others argued composting would work just as well.
