May-June marks the third year of the Fitchburg Jamestown Community Gardens, a community of several neighbors who plant gardens, and socialize, located at Huegel-Jamestown Park – 5810 Williamsburg Way.
Community Gardens is the brainchild of Fitchburg Alder Dave Herbst and neighborhood residents.
The Fitchburg Jamestown community garden is open to anyone and the fee for a 10 x 10 or 10 x 20 plot is $25.
If you would like to start gardening or need more space to grow, contact Herbst via email at Dave.Herbst@Fitchburgwi.gov or call Dave at 608-516-7173.
“Gardening is its own reward folks who garden will tell you,” said Herbst. “Community gardens expands this activity and adds a social and creative avenue. When I talk with neighbors who garden, folks seem visibly contented, free. The community aspect just adds to this wonderful experience.”
In past years, neighbors and families get together on a single plot, or sometimes it’s one person tending to her personal garden.
