Background/Info: Belgian duo La Jungle has already released several albums and are already back on track unleashing their sixth opus. “Blurry Landscapes” became a conceptual work. The band got in touch with different so-called Art-Brut artists. Each of them was invited to listen to one song and asked to give it a name and create a work that would fit to it.
Content: Behind this fascinating and creative concept hides the Krautrock style from La Jungle. It’s a dynamic composition driven by loud and carrying guitar playing which sometimes ends into transcendental passages. I also noticed a few Techno-driven elements and very few vocal parts.
+ + + : La Jungle already convinced me by their precious work and simply confirms being a great, creative and talented formation. I also salute the concept behind this work which is part of a wider artistic creation and also a way to put Art-Brut artists in the spotlights. The booklet features the works of those artists. Sound-wise this album sounds like Krautrock out of the box and that’s exactly what I like. La Jungle reveals that it is still possible to be inventive, composing great music. The guitar play injects a true spirit to the work. I especially recommend listening to “La Compagnie De La Chanson” and “Panther’s Rib Cage” while “The Growl And The Relief” sounds to me as the ultimate song of the album.
– – – : It maybe takes a bit time to really get into this work but with a little less patience you’ll discover a true masterpiece made in Belgium!
Conclusion: La Jungle is maybe one of the best hidden Belgian secrets reminding us of the magic of Krautrock with a personal touch on top.
