The federal government on Thursday sued the owner of a California general contractor and landscaping company for failing to remit over $3 million in employment taxes to the IRS.
The government filed the complaint with the US District Court for the Eastern District of California against Genesis Systems International Inc. and its owner Jonathan Valdez. It seeks $3.3 million that the company withheld from its employees wages but didn’t send to the IRS from 2013 to 2022.
