(Forest City MN-) The Meeker County Board of Commissioners has approved of an interest-free loan from the Parks fund balance to the Forest City Stockade Committee to be paid back over 5 years at $3,000 per year. The Committee will use the $15,000 loan to build a 28-by-56-foot pole shed to house a donated collection of horse-drawn equipment and tools.
Parks Superintendent Braden Piram says the collection was donated by Kate Nelson and her late husband, Wesley, who lived on a farm in Acton Township and wanted to donate the items to the Stockade. Bob Hermann showed the Commissioners slides of the equipment that is being donated. The County has done this type of loan several times in the past and the Stockade Committee has always paid it back in full and on time.
