A 42-year-old man sustained a severe laceration to his torso after being pinned against the edge of a wrought iron fence in Niagara Falls, Saturday.
Niagara Regional Police were called to the area of Ferry Street and Temperance Avenue around 2:40 a.m. and located a man suffering from a significant laceration on his upper torso.
Police said the victim had been pinned against the sharp edge of an iron fence.
The victim was assessed at the scene by Niagara Emergency Medical Service paramedics prior to being transported to an out-of-town trauma centre for advanced medical care.
His injuries have since been determined to be non-life threatening and he is currently listed in stable condition.
Witnesses told police the suspect fled the area on foot eastbound toward Stanley Avenue. The man was located a short distance away and placed under arrest.
Charged with aggravated assault is Jesse Weichmann, 19, of Bliss, New York.
He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
