BATAVIA — The Genesee County Master Gardeners will conduct their annual Fall Garden Gala on Sept. 17.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Genesee County on 420 E. Main St. It will feature hardy garden perennials, most grown by Master Gardeners.
Fall is a good time to plant many perennials, as there is still time for them to grow a strong root system before winter, organizer said. A selection of house plants will be available. Activities will also include:
n a basket auction, with the drawing to start at 12:30 p.m.;
n Master Gardeners creating arrangements and bouquets on-site, which will be available for sale;
n The Master Gardener Helpline, open to answer people’s gardening questions. Those interested can also a soil sample for free pH testing.
It’s requested that people not arrive early.
Proceeds from the sale benefit the educational outreach of the Genesee County Master Gardener Program.
