Nautilus Pier 4’s “Nauti Garden” patio is back for the season

May 23, 2023 by Staff Reporter

Ever since setting sail from Nantucket and dropping anchor in the Seaport in 2021, Nautilus Pier 4 has offered seafood-focused fare — plus a feast of whole roasted duck with warm buns, ginger scallion rice, and a host of accompaniments — right on the water. Now, its foliage-shrouded patio, called the “Nauti Garden,” is open for the warmer months.

At Nautilus, the return of patio weather — whether you like your patios to be delightful hidden gems, or sheltered alcoves in case of the rain — calls for a refresh of the drink menu. Four new drinks join the robust menu of cocktails, wine, sake and beer: Zaiquiri’s daiquiri with rum, pistachio, orgeat and lime; the rhu-barbra streisand with amaro, organic vermouth, and rhubarb; the blueberry and soda with Triple Eight blueberry vodka, lemon and spicy ginger; and the Clinton’s lost loves with bourbon, purple basil, lemon, and spicy ginger.

Elsewhere for some elixirs al fresco, Night Shift Brewing reopened their beer gardens on the Esplanade. The patio at Eastie’s Pazza on Porter is officially open, too, and the Italian spot is now slinging lunch on Fridays, plus $1 oysters from noon to 4 p.m.

The Barking Crab dives into drag shows

Before the live-action version of The Little Mermaid to hit theaters on Friday, swim on over to Southie institution the Barking Crab on May 24 at 8 p.m. for a 90-minute interactive drag show themed on the beloved classic tale. Drag performers Abby Cummings, Karisma Geneva Jackson-Tae, Kori King, and Kris Knieval hit the stage. Prizes include Red Sox tickets and other goodies — and of course bring plenty of clams to tip the performers.

While you’re feeling especially festive, get a kickstart on June’s Pride celebrations by hitting up the Pride kickoff event at Boston Chops South End on May 31 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

So Sabe Catering in Dorchester Now Offering Breakfast and Lunch

Once a catering outfit, this Cape Verdean and Portuguese-influenced spot owned by Julia Evora is now serving breakfast and lunch. Visit the Dorchester Ave. eatery for breakfast sandwiches that include fried eggs, linguica, and cheese on a Portuguese roll, plus a handful of lunch specials. The real treat, though, are the pastries: Savory fried dough balls filled with chicken and cheese (called a coxinha) and codfish fritters (bolinhas de bacalhau), plus sweet dulce de leche mini churros and traditional pastries made with almond, cheese, and more.
