YORK – For the third time this season the York/Pavilion football team was able to take care of Notre Dame and the win on Friday night sends the Golden Knights to the Class D championship game.
Parker Bonefede finished the night 9-of-13 for 123 yards and three touchdowns as York/Pavilion was able to pull away from the Fighting Irish for a 28-14 victory.
Carl Szczech had another solid night on the ground for Y/P as he ran for 108 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries, while he also caught a pair of passes for 18 yards and another score.
Jake Pangrazio had another big night on the outside for the Knights with four catches for 60 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
“Another Friday night and another gutty performance from the boys, not an easy job to beat a team three times in a year, and credit to ND, they are a good squad who played well and gave us a great battle all year,” York/Pavilion head coach Kurt Schneider said. “We obviously have some things to clean up, we had too many mistakes, but we still found a way to pull out the win in the end and that’s really all that matters. Always, we are going to enjoy the evening and then it’s back to the grind.”
Joe Munoz had a big night to lead the Knights defense with five tackles and four QB hurries, while Brennan Royce had five tackles and two passes defenses and Ryan Brady added five tackles, with a forced fumble and two sacks.
Tyler Brady chipped in with two tackles, three passes defensed and an interception in the win.
