January 25, 2023 by Staff Reporter

Many of Songtsam’s properties are located in rural regions of Tibet, where some of China’s most beautiful and breathtaking winter landscapes can be found.

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Songtsam, an award-winning luxury boutique hotel collection and Destination Management Company, located in the Tibet and Yunnan Provinces of China, has launched a new 8-Day/ 7-Night Itinerary encapsulating Eastern Tibet’s spectacular winter scenery, with snow-capped mountains and piercing blue skies.

Many of Songtsam’s properties are located in rural regions of Tibet, where some of China’s most beautiful and breathtaking winter landscapes can be found. During their stay, Songtsam guests will be able to take in the natural beauty that surrounds them while at the same time immersing themselves in Tibetan culture and learning about the lifestyle of the local people.

In Nyingchi, there are more than 4,600 ancient glaciers. It is the only place on Earth that combines the “Ice Age” with a present day winter dreamland. Wintertime in Tibet means flawless snow blankets covering the ground and opportunities to snow-shoe in full view of the beautiful sky-scraping mountain peaks.

Exploring the Source – Winter Highlights in Eastern Tibet
This Songtsam winter itinerary offers its guests an opportunity to travel along the Palong Zangbo River, where they can hike in the Gang Spruce Forest, one of the 10 most beautiful primeval forests in China; or enjoy off-roading in Land Rovers to explore Eastern Tibet. There are also plenty of indoor activities for visitors who prefer to enjoy the warmth. Songtsam’s luxury boutique properties provide their guests a chance to relax physically and mentally, as afternoon tea and snacks are served and ambient music plays, while admiring the surrounding scenic landscape.

Songtsam Lodges Included on this Eight Day Itinerary:
Songtsam Lodge Bome
Located at the center of the Songtsam Tea Horse Road route, all 32 guest rooms have a scenic view of the Guxiang Lake which is surrounded by snow mountains and forests. Also known as the “Switzerland of Tibet,” Bome is surrounded by the Yarlung Tsangpo River, snow-capped mountains, and a dense forest. The hotel was built taking into consideration the local terrain and the design of the building reflects a small village that is integrated into the mountain.

Songtsam Lodge Laigu
Laigu village sits 3,962 meters (13,000 feet) above sea level, surrounded by glaciers and snow-capped mountains. Its geographical location is at the center of Songtsam’s Yunnan-Tibet route, making it an ideal stopover. The Laigu lodge is an architectural masterpiece that highlights contemporary and traditional Tibet traditions, allowing visitors to be immersed into the local culture during their stay.

Songtsam Lodge Namcha Barwa
An all-suite property with 33 guest rooms with terraces facing the dramatic view of the Namcha Barwa Mountain range. Each guest can experience the feeling that they are being embraced by the famous mountain range, the 15th highest mountain in the world. Inside the lodge is a two-story book bar, where guests can enjoy an ideal reading space, drink tea, all in full view of Namcha Barwa. In the evening, guests can view a documentary about glaciers and snow-capped mountains. Outside the Lodge, the architects created three reflecting pools, which capture the mesmerizing snow peaks of Namcha Barwa, the white clouds, and a galaxy of stars in the night sky.
