KEARNEY — Steinbrink Landscaping and Greenhouse of Kearney recently was presented the Green Industry Award during the annual Nebraska Community Forestry Recognition Day in Lincoln.
Communities, educators, media and others involved in greening their communities received awards at the event in Lincoln.
Peter Glandt, an employee of Steinbrink Landscaping and Greenhouses of Kearney, fills the big flower pots in downtown Kearney with begonias that decorate Central Avenue in the summer.
Steinbrink Landscaping was selected because it has decades of knowledge and produces hardy plants that flourish in south-central Nebraska’s challenging growing conditions.
The company has donated trees, annuals and gift certificates to neighboring communities for community fundraisers. Their knowledge of plant materials has produced several arboretum quality botanical gardens and parks, according to Steinbrink’s award nomination.
