MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS, Ohio – Tri-City Bark Park has become a popular place for Berea, Brook Park and Middleburg Heights dogs and their humans, and its advisory board continues planning future park amenities.
The park is located at 18825 Sheldon Road in Middleburg Heights.
President Guy Turner (Berea), Vice President Lauren Perko (Middleburg Heights) and Secretary Carl Burgio (Brook Park) comprise the board.
A pavilion and dog agility course, as well as fund raising options, were discussed at the board’s Sept. 7 meeting. Grant opportunities may be available to help pay for the pavilion, which likely would be located inside the park.
Middleburg Heights Councilman Tim Ali serves as chairman of the Middleburg Heights Recreation Committee and oversees the advisory board. He envisions a pavilion situated between the canine drinking fountain and large-dog area side fencing.
Ali estimates the potential 40 foot by 20 foot structure will cost more than $50,000 due to the high price of materials.
Possible fund raising activities discussed include selling pavers for the walkway and offering for sale sponsorships for benches that would be located throughout the park. Bark Park apparel continues to be offered for sale as well.
A Bark Park winter fundraiser will be planned for late January.
To support the dog park, donation checks should be made payable to “City of Middleburg Heights,” with “Tri-City Dog Park” noted on the memo line. They can be dropped off or sent to Middleburg Heights City Hall, Attn: Dog Park, 15700 Bagley Road, Middleburg Heights, OH 44130.
