TV People traverses landscapes of love and sound in Die Down

August 19, 2023 by Staff Reporter

TV People reflect on cyclical patterns of love, conflict, and resolution in their new song ‘Die Down‘.

The post-punk and alternative rock traverses a sonic landscape as gritty as its inspiration. The track is written from the perspective of a person who feels trapped in a negative cycle in their love life, where unresolved issues repeatedly cause pain to both them and their partner, despite the immense love and support that flows between them. The layered vocals pull listeners into the despondence of a love losing its footing. Yet, in fashion with the cycle of this love, lyrics capture the moments that propel relationship cycles onward, like “silent eyes collide,” when truth is never more apparent, but agrees to be unsaid. The chorus swells – with emotion and uncertainty – as the lyric repeats, “when you cry I feel like I’ve-“.

Die Down was recorded at Darklands Audio Dublin by Dan Doherty (FONTAINES D.C.), mixed by Germany Award-winning Caesar Edmunds (QOTSA, St. Vincent, and Foals) at Battery London and mastered by Ivan Jackman at Hellfire Studios Dublin (Sinead O’Connor).
