Roll up your sleeves, home improvement enthusiasts! Today, we’re rewinding the clock, delving again into an extraordinary DIY challenge undertaken by home renovation warrior Lauren Jansen. Dive into Lauren’s second go-around with self-installing bougie patio doors. Yup—you read that right. Lauren tackled this task not once but twice.
Though she’s no stranger to home improvement, Lauren confesses that completing this project alone was exhilarating, even on her second try. Her challenge? A stubborn door wedged and locked into place like an obstinate mule—a seeming roadblock to even the hardiest DIY adventurers.
Lauren took on the DIY world with a metal saw blade and a can-do attitude to break down her old door. Undeterred, she cut through the nails and screws surrounding the door frame. With determination, she loosened and prised the old, stubborn door out of its frame.
Next, it was time for some engineering brilliance. Lauren built up the opening for her new doors, which entailed adding 2x4s all around like the framework to a masterpiece. With immense precision, she glued the base into place, screwing the sides and top securely. Remember, folks: ensure that each board is leveled in all directions!

Once her doorframe was ready, it was time for the big fit! Lauren covered her base with a generous layer of liquid nails, then placed her new doors into their new home. She placed screws all around, filled all gaps with foam, and trimmed it out on both sides. And oh, the transformation a little caulking and painting brought about!
Up next, she upgraded the look of the doors with modish hardware and handcrafted electrical tape grids—an essential detail! Her advice: keep calm and don’t stretch the tape!
With her project completed, Lauren took a moment to bask in her achievement. Very rightly so, might we add! Her new bougie patio doors were an aesthetic addition and a functional choice, injecting her home with an infectious warmth and brightness.
